David Hall Powell is a geometric abstraction artist born in London, England in 1954 and is now based in various locations. His work pares down - distills concepts to the essence of lines and colour. They are flat sculptures of acrylic on hand-shaped wood panels.The titles given to each artwork are an indication only and the viewer has the freedom to interpret each piece. “What you see is what you see”. Each piece of art is constructed from a wood panel shaped by hand, prepared with gesso multiple times, and sanded before acrylic paint is applied. The reverse side is also sealed with gesso and is titled, signed and thumbprinted. More recent pieces are bleached cotton on canvas.
